Desire is a creative resource within each of us that circulates in deeply felt feeling. It can be understood as among the most vital resources essential to life, and essential to the creative process. It is the healthy circulation of embodied life force — the psychic energy which animates the visceral body from which all human activity emerges.
Wherever there is grief, there is desire. Paradoxically, grief is not the absence of desire, but indicative of a desire whose circulation has been arrested before completing its natural cycle of transformation.
Grief does not always resemble mourning. It can appear as insecurity, doubt, creative paralysis, or an inability to receive. Surrender, service, and devotion to a power beyond oneself can allow for the transformation of grief (stagnation) into the flow of desire.
The one who worships creates the goddess.
Every session is an experiment in discipline and play. You are My muse, My pet, My test subject, My toy, My captive, My mirror — and the other side of the proverbial chessboard.
You will be asked to surrender, piece by piece, what you think you know about who you are, what you fear, what you need, and what you desire. We are matryoshkas in the labyrinth of desire: one identity opens to reveal another, one game concealed within the next, and no clear path.
We play until the familiar arrangement of black and white squares begins to break apart and a game more fundamental emerges beneath it. That is the one I am interested in playing.
